Five months after launching a digital platform for result confirmation, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has stopped manual confirmation of West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) results from 1999 to the present.
From now on, individuals, institutions, or organizations looking to confirm any WAEC results from 1999 must exclusively use the digital portal, as stated by the examination body.
Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of the Public Affairs Department, announced in a release that efforts are underway to add results from 1980 to the platform.
“Nigeria is delighted to inform stakeholders that manual confirmation or stamping of certificates for candidates who took the WASSCE from 1999 until now will no longer be provided, as the Council has introduced the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform to offer a seamless and timely method for making candidates’ certificates available,” the statement partially read.
The digital certificate platform allows candidates to access, download, and share their original WAEC certificates, while institutions and organizations can swiftly and securely confirm candidates’ certificates.
In October 2022, WAEC unveiled a digital platform where candidates can recover burnt, lost, and damaged certificates online. Patrick Areghan, WAEC’s Head of the National Office for Nigeria, stated that accessing the platform would cost N7,500 for new and old candidates, N3,500 for sharing, and N5,000 for certificate confirmation.
The portal was created to ensure seamless and swift result confirmation and to “eradicate fraud and eliminate counterfeiters from the market.”
The WAEC Digital Certificate Platform can be accessed online at www.waec.org, with the mobile version available for download on Android and iOS app stores. For further information, contact support@waec.org for assistance.
