PDP Debunks Rumors: Odii Continues Legal Battle Over Election Results
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State has confirmed that its gubernatorial candidate, Ifeanyichukwuma Odii, has not withdrawn the lawsuit he filed at the election tribunal, disputing the results of the state’s governorship election.
Abia Onyike, the spokesperson for the PDP Governorship Campaign Council in Ebonyi, clarified this in an official statement released on Tuesday in Abakaliki.
The PDP calls on its members and supporters to disregard any rumors circulating on social media suggesting Mr. Odii has dropped the case pending before the election tribunal.
Onyike also emphasized that the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Odii, has not congratulated his All Progressives Congress (APC) opponent, who is the governor-elect, contrary to the rumors claim.
According to Onyike, the misleading information has been spread by anonymous authors.
“We want to assure our esteemed party members, the PDP, our numerous supporters, and the good people of Ebonyi that there is absolutely no truth in the circulating fake news. We encourage them to dismiss these false claims and continue supporting Odii and all our candidates engaged in this legal battle, which seeks to reclaim our stolen mandates and restore the fundamental rights of Ebonyi citizens to select their preferred leaders,” the statement read.
“Odii remains steadfast in his dedication to ensuring justice is served and will not betray the trust placed in him by the people of Ebonyi. With God on our side, we can confidently say that we will soon have a reason to celebrate,” the statement concluded.
