In an open letter, the Councilors of Onicha Local Government Area have expressed their strong support for Executive Chairman Hon. Chief Chidiebere Uzor (Obosi) amid allegations and attacks following the successful conclusion of the March 18th, 2023 gubernatorial election.
The councilors stated, “We, the Councilors of Onicha Local Government, reaffirm our support, solidarity, and especially, our confidence in the capacity, competence, and commitment of Hon. Chief Chidiebere Uzor(Obosi) to people-oriented leadership in Onicha Local Government Area.”
The letter called out those behind the allegations as betraying the Chairman and resorting to “cheap blackmail.” It also condemned the unfortunate killing of any Onicha Local Government person during the election while clarifying that Obosi is “a clean man with clean hands” who could not possibly have had a hand in the killings.
The councilors urged the opposition to “play by the rules and stop the distractive games against the Executive Chairman.” They also called on the people of Onicha LGA to continue supporting the Executive Chairman as he means well for the community.
The letter also urged the people of Onicha LGA to continue supporting the Executive Chairman in his work to improve the region. The councilors congratulated the Governor-Elect, Hon. Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru (FON), the Senator-Elect, and the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi, FNSE, FNATE, CON, for their respective victories in the recent general elections.
Finally, the councilors called on security agencies to intensify their efforts to find and apprehend anyone involved in the violence that occurred during the election. They concluded by urging detractors to leave Obosi alone and let him focus on his work for the people of Onicha LGA.
