David Umahi, the Governor of Ebonyi State, has granted permission for the Labour Party to use the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki for a rally scheduled to take place on January 11, 2022.
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, is expected to attend the rally. In order to ensure the rally’s success, the Governor has instructed the Ministry of Youth and Sports to allow the party to use the stadium, provided they meet the requirements outlined in an executive order.
The Governor emphasized that all political parties should be allowed access to government-owned facilities for lawful activities as long as they fulfill the requirements set forth in the executive order. He also warned that those who do not meet expectations may face sanctions. The Governor emphasized the importance of putting the development of the state first and urged political actors to support the All Progressives Congress at all levels.
Umahi indicated that he plans to appoint former Executive Assistants, Senior Technical Assistants, and Technical Assistants to the State Executive Council, provided they can demonstrate their ability to win at least 90% of the vote for the APC in their polling units.
