An Ebonyi indigenes group on Saturday warned the National Working Committee (NWC) of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that it may jeopardise its interest in Ebonyi State if it ignores an order by a Federal High Court in Abakiliki regarding the conduct of its primary elections in the state.
The non-profit, socio-cultural organisation under the aegis of Association of Ebonyi Indigenes Socio-Cultural in Diaspora (AEISCID), said that its outcry was to ensure good and credible governance in the state.
In a statement made available to reporters, the group claimed that the party’s primary “was properly conducted in line with the Electoral Act (as amended).”
President of the group, Ambassador Paschal Oluchukwu, warned the national leadership of the PDP against allowing itself to be led into contempt of court and manipulation by some ‘desperate politicians.’
Oluchukwu urged the PDP leadership to be firm, fair, just and consistent in maintaining its stand on the law, saying “any attempt to allow itself to be muscled will lead to the crumbling of the entire cookies of the party in Ebonyi and is even capable of causing serious crises in our once peaceful state.
This, was as he added that such move would make the party “a laughing stock if it fails to put its best foot forward in the mould of a rallying force with immense capacity like Ifeanyi Odii and give capable men like him an opportunity to return the party to power in 2023.”
