The Nigeria Youth Organization (NYO), Ebonyi State Chapter, has called on a business mogul and President of Ebele and AnyiChuks Foundation, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, to declare interest to run for the Ebonyi State governorship position, come 2023.

The State Chairman of NYO, Mr Kelechi Igwe made the call when he led members of the organization on a solidarity visit to Odii at his country home, in Isu, Onicha local government area of the state on Sunday.

The youth group were armed with placards in different inscriptions, such as, “Anyichuks, the youth of Ebonyi need you, the time is now to run for Governor; Anyichuks for Governor 2023; Ebonyi will be safe in your hand: Anyichuks is the man that loves the youth,” among other inscriptions.

Mr Igwe who spoke on behalf of the group said that the call for him to contest for the governorship position of the state was a clarion call from both the youth and the entire people of Ebonyi.

He described Odii popularly known as “Anyichuks” as a “man of the people.

He said, “The youth of Ebonyi is appealing to you to harken to the voice of Ebonyi people and declare interest to run for the office of the Governor, come 2023.

“There is no doubt that we need someone who has what it takes to govern. You are the man of our hearts.

“We have found in you, the competence, experience, fairness, youth friendliness and open-mindedness. You are a leader with a good heart.

“We do not need a soothsayer to tell us that Anyichuks is the beacon of hope for Ebonyi’s future.”

Also speaking, Mr Henry Ngonu, State’s Vice Chairman of NYO, urged Ebonyi people to rally around Anyichuks, warning that 2023 elections should not be left in the hands of those, who do not wish the people well.

“In this 2023 election, we need a person, who is strong, physically, intellectually and that is Anyichuks,” he stated.

Responding, Dr Ifeanyi Odii thanked the youth for founding him worthy to run for the Governorship position in Ebonyi state.

“I thank you for the request, but I will first urge you to remain law-abiding, avoid social vices as you all know that I am a man of peace, ambassador of peace.

“The only thing that will make your request answered is when you conduct yourself in a peaceful way,” he said.

Odii urged the youth to go back and promised to invite them after consultations with stakeholders and leaders of Ebonyi.

“I will consult the leaders of the state, market women, disability and ability; and at the appropriate time, I will be able to tell this is my stand, to contest or not,” he said.
