Nine APC Lawmakers To Decamp To PDP Next Month In Ebonyi – Anyim

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Anyim Pius Anyim has said that some top members of the All Progressive Congress in Ebonyi State will soon decamp to the opposition camp.

The 2023 presidential hopeful confidently stated that PDP will receive new defectors from the ruling party before the end of March in Ebonyi.

Making a mockery of the APC, Anyim said the empire has started crumbling and will continue to crumble until PDP take charge of the state.

Reporters report that the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation stated this on Tuesday (today) while addressing members of the party during an enlarged meeting of the party in Abakaliki.

Anyim boasts that the PDP will soon take over the leadership of the current House of Assembly, stressing that nine lawmakers are dumping APC and the party without them cannot get a 2/3rd majority to do anything in the statehouse.

“I want to assure you, by next month many more will join these our Lawmakers and by the time they know it, we will take over Ebonyi state House of Assembly.

“Without these nine Lawmakers, you can’t get 2/3rd majority to do anything in Ebonyi House of Assembly,” Anyim boasted.

He accused 15 Lawmakers of the Assembly, who were hitherto members of the APC of desperation in a bid to maintain control of the House.

Reporters understand that Anyim’s boastful declaration is coming less than 24 hours after 15 APC lawmakers on Monday, elected the member representing Afikpo North-West constituency and Deputy Leader of the House as the Assembly’s Deputy Speaker.

The party took the step after a letter allegedly written by the Deputy Speaker, Chief Obasi Odefa, revealed he has resigned as a member of the House.

The letter was read on the floor of the House by the Speaker, Hon. Francis Nwifuru, which led to the declaration of his seat vacant.

Reacting on Tuesday, Anyim said: “We have them on our side and we want you to bear it in mind that next month and in the months to come, many APC lawmakers, in Ebonyi, will join the PDP.”

He added: “Some people desperately are forging signatures, some people desperately are concocting members. But the fact cannot lie. Our house of Assembly members are intact, nine of them are here as you can see in this meeting.

“In this family today, we have a big fish, a member of APC BoT, a leader, a critical stakeholder in Ebonyi, the pride of Ebonyi state government, he is here with us. It is my singular honour on behalf of this caucus to present to you, Chief Austin Edeze. The empire is crumbling, it has started. It will continue to crumble”.
