Stakeholders in Nigeria have tasked the government to create jobs for the youth as a means of solving the perennial security crisis, including the farmers/herder clashes, which resulted in the loss of lives across the country over the last few years.
This was the outcome of a symposium put together by OYA Media led by popular TV host, Funmi Iyanda, with a theme ‘How To Fix Nigeria; The Farmers And Herders Approach’, security and agricultural development experts have urged Nigerians to embrace peace in the interest of the country, noting that the consequences of the crisis have been dire on the nation.
‘How to Fix Nigeria’ is a hybrid virtual and physical event comprising Nigerian youth and innovation-led stakeholders. The Nigeria Series of the platform is funded by the MacArthur Foundation and focuses on conversations revolving around the singular theme of uniting for Action.
The series, which kicked-off in Ibadan on June 24, 2021, will be held sequentially in all the six geo-political zones of the country, including Kano (the next stop), Enugu, Calabar, Bauchi and Abuja.
The symposium played host to three panellists including Dr. Oluwseun Adeleke, an agricultural and rural development expert from the University of Ibadan, Commissioner of Police Fatai Owoseni (RTD) current Adviser to the Oyo State Government on Security and a peace and conflict resolution expert, Dr Danjibo Nathaniel Dominic from the University of Ibadan.
