Governor David Umahi has sent his samples for COVID-19 test to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The Governor disclosed this in Abakaliki on Thursday during the swearing- in ceremony of some new government officials he recently appointed.
He said after the budget review meeting which had most government officials in attendance, some government officials tested positive for COVID-19 and this necessitated his action.
The Governor said the result of the tests will be out on Friday and promised to disclose his status.
“If I test positive, my deputy Governor will carry on with the fight as a frontline worker but we will be extremely careful and use zoom to do our jobs. No retreat no surrender, this Covid-19 matter we will fight it to a conclusive level”.
He said his administration has come up with new measures to tackle the spread of the virus.
“Next week we are to have the public hearing on our proposal on the new plan of our fight against Covid-19 either me or my Deputy will chair the meeting and I will contribute through zoom if I test positive,” he said.
