The Ebonyi State Government says it has allocated N20.76bn to fight the coronavirus pandemic in the 2020 revised budget.

Governor David Umahi, who disclosed this during the Revised 2020 Citizens Budget Inputs/Consultative Meeting held at the Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki, equally hinted that the state had spent a total of N2.243bn between January and May 31st, 2020, in the fight against the viral disease.

Umahi had convened the meeting to get the inputs of the people on the proposed reduction of the state’s 2020 budget by 26 per cent.

According to him, the reduction was to accommodate the effects of COVID-19 crisis management, and to boost the economy, due to sharp decline in the state’s revenue.

The Ebonyi State 2020 approved budget was N178,366,348,75.38, but, according to Umahi, it had been reviewed downward to N131,847,577,874.61 and would be sent to the state House of Assembly for approval.
