The Ebonyi State Government says it has tested 1,472 persons for COVID-19 in the State, and still tracing 2,240 persons who may have come in contact with Coronavirus patients.
This was disclosed yesterday, by the state commissioner for information and orientation, Orji Uchenna Orji after the state executive council meeting.
He noted that while the number for contact tracing was 2,240, the number of samples so far tested are 1,472.
Orji said that as at 28th May, 2020, Ebonyi State had a total of 40 COVID-19 cases, 32 active and 8 discharged.
He further stated that the Unity square Isolation center was filled up, hence the Government had selected one of the general hospitals in the state ( Elu-nwovu general hospital) in Abakaliki local government area for the services.
He announced that the Committee has approved the sum of N80 million for the renovation of Elunwovu Health Centre in Abakaliki Local Government Area as a new isolation/treatment centre to complement existing ones.
“Government has commenced the distribution of COVID-19 palliatives to the benefitting groups in the state, including Ebonyians in Abuja and Lagos. Polling unit compilation of list of beneficiaries of the palliatives across the state was comprehensively rounded off without any political consideration, and distribution shall soon commence at the various polling units.
Council also approved increased testing protocols and feeding of the returnees kept at each of the 39 holding centres of the state,” he said.
