Teenager remanded for defiling three-year-old girl in Ebonyi

An Abakaliki Magistrates’ Court has remanded a 15-year-old boy (name withheld) in the Ebonyi State Juvenile and Remand Home for allegedly defiling a three-year-old girl.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the accused allegedly had carnal knowledge of the minor on September 9, 2019, at Umu-Chima Agba village in the Ishielu Local Government Area of the state.

The boy was alleged to have lured the minor into an uncompleted building, where he molested her and a passer-by, who heard the victim’s cry, raised the alarm.

The accused was arraigned on one count of unlawful intercourse.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Mbam Chinedu, told the court that the offence was punishable under Section 34 (2) of the Ebonyi State Child Right Law and Related Matters, 2010.

The Chief Magistrate, Nnenna Onuoha, ordered that the parents of the accused be brought to court on Thursday.

She further directed that the accused be remanded in the Ebonyi State Juvenile and Remand Home and the case file transferred to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
