Ebonyi State government, under the leadership of Chief David Nweze Umahi has, today, acquired the land in dispute between Enyigbichiri in Ikwo LGA and Enyigba in Abakaliki LGA following a meeting with the stakeholders of the clashing communities.
In an agreement reached between the stakeholders and the State government, the land was revoked and acquired by Ebonyi State which has also donated part of the land to Enyigbichiri in Ikwo and Enyigba in Abakaliki LGAs as a way to ensuring permanent peace in the area.
In his remark, the Governor of Ebonyi State maintained that the killing of the family of six in a bus which happened during the crisis must be avenged. He mandated the stakeholders to pinpoint those involved in the dastardly act to enable the law take its full cause on them.
Also speaking were the stakeholders who regretted that the clash had caused the shedding of blood from both communities. They explained this to be an abomination noting that Ikwo and Abakaliki are brothers. While pledging their undying commitment to ensuring that the clash never resumes, the parties also agreed to live peacefully with their neighbouring communities.
