About 33 candidates would slug it out with the incumbent Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 governorship election.
This was observed on the notice board of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s head office in Abakaliki, the state capital.
The PUNCH gathered that two of the contestants were women of 31 and 40 years of age respectively.
Their records read in part, “Grace Uduma-Eze, from Afikpo North, Independent Democratic Party (IDP).
“Perpetual Ogbuekwu, 31 years with Bachelor degree in Education, from Ezza South, Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA) party.”
However, popular among the contestants are Umahi who is seeking a second term in office and Senator Sonni Ogbuoji of the All Progressives Congress, as well as a former state Commissioner for Education, Chief Chibueze Ndubuisi Onwe of the Social Democratic Party.
Umahi’s credentials, which were pasted on Sunday at the INEC office, showed that he scored five Credits in English Language, Statistics, Physics, Economics and Biology and three As in Mathematics, Additional Mathematics and Chemistry at the Government College, Afikpo in 1982.
