Ebonyi Police Impound 100 Vehicles with Tinted Glass, Siren, Others

The Ebonyi State Police Command on Tuesday said it had impounded over 100 vehicles using unauthorised siren, covered of number plates and tinted glasses.

The spokesperson for the command, ASP Loveth Odah, who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen, said owners of the impounded vehicles were mostly members of the state executive council, including council chairmen and special advisers to the state government.

Odah explained that the exercise, going on in all the 13 local government areas of the state, followed a directive by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris.

According to her, the directive stemmed from a series of petitions submitted to the Force Headquarters, Abuja. Odah called on everyone in Ebonyi to be law-abiding, saying the command was poised to ensure adequate security of lives and property in the state.

She said, “The concept of covering number plates, use of tinted glass and siren was originally meant to enhance security but it is being abused by unauthorised persons.

“The command, therefore, directs that all those who engage in this illegal act should desist forthwith to avoid embarrassment as some operatives have been given directive towards restoring sanity in the state by arresting and prosecuting offenders.”
